Company Background: Venco Havalandirma A.S. has been a prominent player in the air conditioning industry since its inception in 1992. Originating as IMCO, the company initially served as a representative for leading European manufacturers. With a wealth of experience and expertise accumulated over the years, IMCO transitioned into production activities, laying the groundwork for the establishment of Venco Havalandirma A.S. in 2000.
Operating on engineering principles, Venco Havalandirma A.S. has consistently strived for excellence in its production and business operations. The company’s commitment to innovation and quality led to significant growth, culminating in the expansion of its operations to the Turgutlu Organized Industrial District in 2010.
In a pivotal move in 2019, Venco Havalandirma A.S. merged with IMCO, consolidating their strengths under the unified Venco brand. This merger bolstered Venco’s position as a leading provider of air conditioning solutions, combining decades of industry experience and resources.
Modern Slavery Policies:
1. Prohibition of Child Labor:
Venco Havalandirma A.S. strictly prohibits the use of child labor in any aspect of its operations. The company adheres to relevant labor laws and regulations, including the prohibition of recruiting minors under the age of sixteen and as well as the age restrictions imposed by Republic of Turkey legislation on minors receiving vocational training. Rigorous audits are conducted during the recruitment process to verify the authenticity of documents and ensure compliance with age requirements. Additionally, measures are in place to prevent children from entering production areas, except under specific circumstances such as supervised visits.
2. Procedures for the Protection of Underage Workers:
The protection of underage workers is paramount at Venco Havalandirma A.S. The company maintains comprehensive procedures to safeguard the rights and well-being of underage employees. This includes stringent verification of identification documents, registration with local labor authorities, and restrictions on the types of tasks assigned to underage workers. Regular medical checkups are conducted to ensure their health and safety, with ongoing monitoring by the Personnel Department.
3. Prohibition of Forced Labor Procedures:
Venco Havalandirma A.S. categorically prohibits forced labor in all aspects of its operations. The company does not engage in practices such as indentured servitude or coercion, and strict measures are in place to ensure compliance with this policy. Employment is based on voluntary agreements, with no conditions imposed on employees related to debt repayment or contractual obligations. Employees have the freedom to terminate their employment at any time without penalty, and their personal documents are safeguarded against unauthorized retention.
4. Anti-Trafficking Procedures:
Venco Havalandirma A.S. is committed to combating human trafficking in all its forms. The company’s anti-trafficking policy aims to prevent the exploitation of individuals for profit and prohibits practices such as abduction, trafficking of women and children, and forced prostitution. Key measures include stringent background checks during recruitment, employee education and training on human trafficking awareness, and the establishment of a reporting mechanism for suspected incidents. Compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015:
Venco Havalandirma A.S. is committed to complying with the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons Especially Women and Children supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime; The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms’ article four, which forbids forced labor and slavery; Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the United Kingdom by providing global support to eliminate slavery and human trafficking; and the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act 2000 of the United States and to the recognition and protection of human rights in all countries where we operate. Our human rights policy is guided by the international human rights principles embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
